John Towner Williams (Long Island, Nova Iorque, 8 de fevereiro de 1932) é um compositor estadunidense premiado várias vezes por suas trilhas sonoras.
Amigo de Steven Spielberg, assina quase todas as trilhas de seus filmes, tais como Jurassic Park, Jaws, Schindler's List e o recente "Munique". Também é parceiro do cineasta George Lucas, sendo o autor das famosas trilhas das bem sucedidas séries cinematográficas Star Wars e Indiana Jones. Outras trilhas famosas de autoria de Williams são a dos três primeiros episódios da série Harry Potter e a trilha do primeiro filme do Superman estrelado por Christopher Reeve. Indicado nada menos que 45 vezes ao Oscar, foi vitorioso com Jaws, E.T., "Star Wars Episódio IV: Uma Nova Esperança", Schindler's List e Fiddler on the Roof.
É considerado um dos maiores compositores da atualidade. Apenas Walt Disney já concorreu a mais Oscars do que John Williams. É impossível não reconhecer seu estilo ao ouvir sua obra.
Além dos seus trabalhos em trilhas de filmes, é conhecido também por suas obras eruditas e concertos, como: o concerto para fagote e orquestra, o concerto para violoncelo e orquestra, o concerto para trompete e orquestra, o concerto para violino, flauta e orquestra e o concerto para trompa e orquestra.
